Hey guys! If any of you are interested in knowing, tomorrow’s the ONE MONTH anniversary of this food blog! One month may not seem like such a long time to most of you, but to us (and our uber short attention spans), it’s actually a REALLYYYYYY long time! Anyway, back to the topic of this post, our top favorite foods of all time include CHOCOLATE, BANANA, and OATMEAL. If you have been following this blog and still haven’t realized our sheer obsession with chocolate (pretty obvious), you need to start reading things more clearly. Go hone your skills of understanding and analysis! Bananas: yummy, yellow, creamy and…uh, yummy. They are also really healthy! Oatmeal: mmmmmm, convenient, healthy, creamy and oh-so versatile, what could be better for a quick and hearty breakfast? or lunch? or dinner? or snack? There are just so many ways that you can cook oatmeal. So, when Zara came across a Chocolate Banana Oatmeal recipe on chocolatecoveredkatie.com (WE ARE HUGE FANS OF HER) of course she had to try it! She was practically shaking with excitement when she read the post. So here’s the recipe for you to try out🙂
40g rolled oats (quick cooking oats are fine too) 1 cup milk, divided 1 banana, sliced 1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder 1/8 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
Combine 3/4 cup milk with the rest of the ingredients and cook, uncovered, over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes. When it starts to bubble, stir occasionally.
After the oats have absorbed all of the milk and are fluffy, creamy and (for lack of a better word) mushy, spoon into a bowl/plate. Top with a remaining 1/4cup of milk.
Chocolate Banana Oatmeal
Note: You could mash the bananas up before eating the oatmeal too! Zara enjoys having the sweetness of the banana in every mouthful.
If you happen to not have any bananas at home, or just don’t feel like using any bananas, there’s another Chocolate Oatmeal recipe version without Bananas. Elisa tried it out this morning and it turned out to be as tasty and had no lack of flavor. With or without bananas, chocolate oatmeals are always great🙂
Believe it or not, Zara has had this chocolate banana oatmeal for breakfast 2 days in a row (Elisa is not as crazy though, but they’re good and you should try it!), and she’s like to even continue having this extraordinarily creative, unique, yet tasty breakfast everyday! If you like chocolate and oatmeal, and maybe banana (or even if you don’t), we do recommend that you try out this recipe! It’s delicious, healthy, speedy and easy at the same time and would provide a perfect start to your day. Think about it, what could be better than chocolate for breakfast??? Definitely a must try for all chocolate-lovers🙂
