Hello friends of the farm! We hope that you’ve enjoyed all our posts so far, and that whatever we’ve been posting has been to your liking. Feel free to leave comments on the blog, and we’ll surely read them and take whatever you have to say into consideration.
This weekend has been an eventful one as our very own Elisa celebrated her sweet 16th birthday! It does bring tears to our eyes when we think of all our darling farm animals growing up so fast. Anyway, to celebrate her birthday, the farm gang decided to bring her for lunch where a good cause is valued as much as the good food.
Food For Thought
Good Food for a Good Cause
The decor of the place was much to our liking, casual and simple yet eclectic, with the jars hanging from the ceiling. Definitely a place to relax and just hang out 🙂
Food For Thought serves casual food with their menu consisting of All Day Breakfast, Sandwiches, Salads, Sides, Pastas & Risottos, Mains and of course, Dessert. With so much to choose from, you can imagine how long we took to choose what to order! We couldn’t decide between Basil Almond Pesto Chicken Linguine ($14) or the Garlic Prawns with Coriander Linguine ($16), but we eventually went for the latter since it was Elisa’s birthday and she loves prawns 😀
Prawns were juicy and succulent, definitely not lacking in flavour. The portion was a little too small though, and it was gone in a blink of an eye.
Sage Roasted Pumpkin Risotto ($15) It was nice and simple, sweet yet savoury enough. Basically, eat it and enjoy every spoonful of creamy risotto with pumpkin. Pumpkin is good for you! and definitely very tasty too (:
Chargrilled Vegetables ($8): with Aubergines Red Capsicum & Zucchini. Alethea decided to be selfish and have a sandwich of her own. The rest of us didnt get to try it as she ate her sandwich happily without offering any to us. She looked happy enough eating it, so it must have been good. Oh well, it looked like a decent dish 🙂
Iced Dark Chocolate ($5.50) Zara is evidently a sheep who loves chocolate way too much for it to be a healthy obsession. The drink was sweet enough, however it proved to be extremely chocolaty and thick which of course is a great thing, but it became a little jelak (a Malay word which means feeling so overwhelmed after eating too much of something, that you can’t just have a morsel more) after a while.
We ended of with…
All Chocolate ($25.80 for Size 6″) cake from Awfully Chocolate 🙂 Initially, they wanted to charge corkage fee. But seriously, corkage fee for a 6″ cake!? But they decided to be nice and not charge us any corkage fee, and kindly cut it all nicely for us to enjoy. Anyway, definitely ALL chocolate, and one which would provide sufficient satisfaction and love for ALL chocolate lovers 😀 Yumyummmm, nothing beats a chocolate overload 🙂
This is just one of their missions. Good value food, and for a good cause. Who would beat that man????We really liked that they printed their place-mats with descriptions of their various missions. It was interesting to read, and allowed us to take away something from this cafe, other than just good and yummy food. Food
For Thought cafe is a homely place which serves affordable comfort food. We would recommend it for all of you who just want a casual place to catch up with friends and chillax (chill and relax). We hear their desserts are good too (hello, Peanut Butter & Jelly Pudding?! ❤ ) so we will definitely be back to try it one day!
